Bandar Hilir : Museum's Day Part 2


Hai everyone!

We will continue the entry from this POST. The next museum we went on that day were:

4.   STAMP MUSEUM

This museum is located near to A Famosa and others museum too. For those who loves to collect stamp, you will able to see a lot of stamps with different design from many countries. They also displaying Malaysia's limited edition stamps and stamps produced by post office Malaysia since 1955-2003.




5.  UMNO MUSEUM

We are not able to take picture in this museum because no camera are not allowed. Basically, in this museum you can see the history and the development of UMNO in Malaysia since before Independence Day. There are also souvenirs given by certain peoples being displayed in this museum.

 


6.  MUZIUM DUNIA MELAYU DUNIA ISLAM

This museum is located behind Bastion House and quite hidden because its entrance gate can't be seen easily. In this museum, they displayed the old Quran, keris, old musical instruments etc. You also can see items from Java.





As you can see from this entry, the palace displayed here can be found at Padang, indonesia. Hence, not only things in Malaysia are display here but also from Java Island.



We can only share six museums to all of you but basically there are more you will find if you come to Bandar Hilir. For example, if you climb up to St. Paul you can find another museum which is the Yang Di-Pertua museum. So enjoy your trip in Malacca!

Bandar Hilir : Menara Taming Sari


Taming Sari Tower is 110 meters tall towers are located in Bandar Hilir, Malacca (next to Dataran Pahlawan). The tower can be rotated 360 degrees for the visitors a panoramic view of Melaka City as a whole. The tower is rotating tower Gyro first kind in Malaysia. Construction cost is around RM 24 million. The tower was officially opened on 18 April 2008. The designs are based on the design Keris Taming Sari.

It can accommodate up to 66 people at any one time and is open from 10 am to 10 pm with adult ticket price of RM20, children and the elderly RM17 to RM10 per person. Interestingly MyKad owners also have the opportunity to get discounts of up to 50% when using this service. The tower was built using Swiss expertise capable of transporting 240 passengers in the first hour. A spin session will take about 7 minutes.

The original location of the tower is on the banks of the Malacca River (near Building Stadhuys) but moved at a new site on the original site because there are ruins of an old wall Malacca Sultanate era besides preserving the archaeological geofak. Here also there is a café, named Taming Sari Cafe and a gift shop.
